With the new song "Love Rainbow" for Matsumoto Jun's drama: Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku; it is also confirmed on the latest flyer for Ninomiya Kazunari's movie, Ooku that Arashi will be singing the theme song called, "Dear Snow".

Apparently there is a rumor that they'll be singing the theme song for GANTZ as well. Entitled, "In the Future" which was listed in another new flyer. Though it is too early to be announced so it could be false.

Perfume will be appearing on TBS's variety programme "Himitsu no Arashi-chan!" on July 22.

Aside from a talk segment on the VIP ROOM corner, an Arashi vs Perfume dance battle set to Perfume's "Chocolate Disco" is said to be part of the trio's appearance on the programme.

Perfume's new single, "VOICE" comes out on August 11.

Arashi (嵐) have been appointed as the Japanese Tourism Promotion Representative volunteer (観光立国ナビゲーター) of Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. On the press conference on April 8, Sho Sakurai (櫻井翔), Masaki Aiba (相葉雅紀) and Jun Matsumoto (松本潤) made their appearance and announced: "We are waiting for your coming in Japan." with Sakurai in English, Aiba in Chinese and Matsumoto in Korean. Both Sakurai and Aiba made impressive announcement, but Matsumoto was the only one tongue-tied. "I screwed up at the most important situation. I have to practice more!" said Matsumoto.

Sakurai showed his confidence: "I am honored to be chosen as 'Face of Japan'. When I was told about this, I was totally surprised. I will work hard for this important duty!" and Aiba said: "I want to impress all the tourists who come to Japan with Japanese wonderful culture and tradition."

In 2009, there were 6,790,000 visitors come to Japan. And Japan Tourism Agency has targeted 15,000,000 visitors by 2013 and 30,000,000 in the future. Arashi, as the Japanese Tourism Promotion Representative Navigator, are having various promotion activities in China and other East Asia countries with the new catch-phrase "Japan. Endless Discovery."

When they were asked which feature of Japan you want to express, Sakurai answered: "Drift ices can be found in Hokkaido at the north, and coral and beautiful ocean can be seen in Okinawa at the south. With spring, summer, autumn and winter, I want to let everybody know the rich nature of Japan." Aiba said: "Fashion and Anime are properties of Japan as well, and they are what I would like to show." Matsumoto: "I have traveled in Japan twice by now in this year, and found that the food cultures differ from place to place. I will try to impress people with different culture of different places of Japan."

The new TV commercial of Arashi is prepared, for their future activities in Asia. As the "Face of Japan", will Arashi add more splendors to Japan's charm?

Arashi (嵐) member Sho Sakurai (櫻井翔) attended the TV variety show "Oshareism(おしゃれイズム)" the other day and talked about episodes with other group members.

According to Sakurai, he received a mail from Satoshi Ohno (大野智) when he did the coverage of the Vancouver Olympics. However besides the message "do your best", Ohno also attached a picture of Maruyama (KANJANI∞) in swimming trunks. In addition, after the news program ZERO, Ohno also sent an email to say "It was a good face!" On the other hand, on Sakurai's birthday, he received a decorated mail saying "Happy birthday!" from Jun Matsumoto (松本潤). However, he also received the complaint from KANJANI∞'s Yokoyama about that Sakurai gave the wrong size of sneakers to him as the present. There were a lot of interesting anecdotes revealed on the program.

Regarding to Arashi themselves, the drama "Kaibutsu Kun/怪物くん (lit. Little monster)" cast Satoshi Ohno will be on air from April 17, as well as the new variety show "Arashi ni Shiyagare(嵐にしやがれ)" with all five members which will start from April 24. Moreover, their "Doyou no Arashi, Haru no Nitere×Arashi Daisakusen (土曜の嵐 春の日テレ×アラシ大作戦, lit. Arashi of Saturday, Nippon TV in Spring×Arashi special action)" will hold the largest scale special program ever. Therefore, Arashi is going to take over Nippon Television for two weeks, with 65-hour-long performance on all 43 different TV programs.

The most noteworthy program will be "Doyou no Arashi, Night 1, Kaibutsu Kun Opening SP" on April 17. In the special project "Arashi den~Konya shika Mirarenai Arashi ga Wakarisugiru VTR Ikkyo Houshutsu SP (嵐伝~今夜しか見られない嵐がわかりすぎるVTR一挙放出SP~ lit. The legend of Arashi~VTR to know more about Arashi only for tonight, release at a stroke SP)", an introduction of members' real faces will look back on the trace of Arashi since their debut. With the drama of their Johnny's Jr. time, each member will reveal their old videos such as "The turning point of the life" with nostalgia. "Through the program, you will further your understanding to all five of us." said Matsumoto. The new single "Monster", the theme song of "Kaibutsu Kun" to be released on May 19, will premiere on TV. After that, "Doyou no Arashi, Night 2, Arashi ni Shagare Opening SP" will feature a extended episode of the new improvisation program.

Last September, Arashi had a special campaign project "Arashi CHALLENGE WEEK" which had 50-hours length in the same TV station. As to this unprecedented large-scale planning, Kazunari Ninomiya (二宮和也) said: "I thought it was the only chance we had last time, it was so great that we had one more shot!" The award ceremony of the 24th Japan Gold Disc Award was held. The award is chosen for music sales of CD and DVD and is major music awards held annually in Japan. Arashi (嵐) won the "Artist of the Year"in Japan for the first time.

Arashi's first best album "All the BEST! 1999-2009" released in 2009 won the first place in "Japanese Album" award. As to the sales of singles, their "Believe/kumori nochi kaisei (Believe / 曇りのち、快晴)" ranked first, with "My Girl/マイガール", "Everything" and "ashitanokioku/Crazy Moon～kimiwamuteki～ (明日の記憶/Crazy Moon～キミ・ハ・ムテキ～)" occupied four places out of Best 5. The total sales of their albums was 1.77 million copies, 2.45 million copies of singles, 3.07 million downloads of digital music and 1.14 million copies of videos.

With the surprising achievement, Arashi ended up winning decuple crowns in Single Section of the award and broke the record. Since two members, Ninomiya Kazunari (二宮和也) and Sakurai Sho (櫻井翔) couldn't make the award ceremony, group leader Ohno Satoshi (大野智) commented: "I want to show the trophy to the two who are not here. They will definitely be amazed!" And "We are honored. It isn't a dream, is it?" said Aiba Masaki (相葉雅紀). Matsumoto Jun revealed his happiness as well: "I love Beatles who won the first in International Section so much that I feel so honored. This trophy is very heavy to me."

Music magazine "Oricon Style (オリ★スタ)" has conducted a survey on "Which male artist has the higher likeability". Popular group Arashi (嵐) won the 1st, bearing down all other artists such as Mr. Children or Masaharu Fukuyama (福山雅治). In the news program "Zoom-in!! Saturday（ズームイン!!サタデー）" on March 27th, Satoshi Ohno (大野智) and Masaki Aiba (相葉雅紀) talked about their likeability.

Ohno was asked about the reason of their likeability at the shooting scene of the drama "Kaibutsu Kun/怪物くん (lit. Little monster)", and he answered "Isn't it normal?" with Ohno-style. As to the question, "Which member of Arashi has won the best likeability?", Ohno said: "It is Aiba-chan, isn't it?" because Aiba has become more and more popular after playing the main role in the drama "My Girl (マイガール)".

On the other hand, Aiba was interviewed at another place with the question who was the most favorable member, "Honestly speaking, it is me (laugh). No, it's a joke. I'm joking." Aiba answered humorously. Then interviewer told Aiba that "Ohno-kun answered 'Aiba-chan' to the same question." Aiba was like "What?! Me? It's so embarrassing...Leader didn't say 'Me'??" It seems Aiba was quite confused with Ohno's response.

Arashi's new single "Troublemaker" was released on March 3rd and now has hit big nationwide. Their DVD "ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×10" is scheduled to release on April 7th and is expected to take over the chart again.

Arashi (嵐) is celebrating their 11th anniversary this year. In addition to music, they are busy with dramas, CMs and variety shows as well. In the last episode of the drama "Tokujou Kabachi!! (特上カバチ！！)" starring Sho Sakurai (櫻井翔) which to be aired on March 21st, the leader Satoshi Ohno (大野智) will appear as a guest. One day before the shooting, during the break of the Arashi regular TV show, he practiced lines with Kazunari Ninomiya (二宮和也) and made one shot pass.

Each member shared their own thoughts on the group on the occasion of 11th anniversary.

Satoshi Ohno: "I am happy that we have received a lot of greeting at the 10th anniversary. However, Arashi hasn't changed basically."

Masaki Aiba (相葉雅紀): "I will cherish everything from now and hope to express my passion to everyone."

Jun Matsumoto (松本潤): "I want to learn something from last past ten years and show a brand new side of Arashi in this year."

Kazunari Ninomiya: "No matter being happy or bitter, all five of us will take and move forward together. This is Arashi."

Sho Sakurai: "'They seem happy, they are doing something silly.' I will be happy if everyone will feel the same with us."

They were asked about what they wanted to do most.
Matsumoto: "I simply want to return to the start and straighten up everything."
Aiba: "Diving. I want to see the world deep under the ocean."
Ninomiya: "I want to try to compose game music, seriously."
Ohno: "I want to travel around the world."
Sakurai: "I want to review the drama of 80's."

Obviously, deep bond among members can be seen from their comment, as well as their challenge spirit.

On November 20th in the evening, the popular five member group took over Tokyo Disney Sea to hold a special event. [Tokyo Disney Sea is a theme park adjacent to Tokyo Disneyland.] Artists such as Yazawa Eikichi and Tohoshinki have also performed events in the same place.

Arashi appeared at 'Mediterranean Harbor' on a boat. They sang a greatest hits medley in which they performed 6 songs including 'One Love' and 'A･RA･SHI'. At the last part of the show 44 Disney characters led by Mickey Mouse joined in. While fireworks went up, the Arashi members concluded the event with a dreamlike finale.

3500 pairs of fans, or 7000 people were invited to the event for free. 5 million applications had been sent. That meant that 1400 applications had been made for each highly sought after ticket. Matsumoto Jun wryly smiled and revealed "Even all my family members couldn't win a ticket." All five members had visited Tokyo Disney Resort countless times since they had been little, so they really enjoyed holding an event there. Group leader Ohno Satoshi said "We still can't believe it. It's a surreal experience."

The Arashi members host a regularly broadcast TV program titled '嵐の宿題くん / Arashi no Shukudai-kun [lit. 'Arashi members' homework']'. The members tackle many challenges that are (erroneously) dubbed 'shukudai [宿題; homework]'! In one episode TOKIO member Nagase was the guest, and together they held a funny sports festival! Have any of you seen the broadcast?

The five Arashi members all wore identical sports jerseys and bandanas around their heads. They did not look at all like the Arashi that fans are used to seeing! The artists were divided into two separate teams each with three players. They competed in a 5 meter 'caterpillar race'. [In a 'caterpillar race' each team lines up single file, and the player at the front bends over with hands on the ground. Each successive player bends over and holds onto the ankles of the player in front of him; thus becoming a 'caterpillar'. The 'caterpillar' has to race around a cone or other object all the while making sure the 'caterpillar' formation doesn't fall apart.] Ohno, Matsumoto and Sakurai teamed up, while the other team's members were Aiba, Ninomiya and Nagase.

Since they usually perform as a group, fans probably would think they have great teamwork. It turned out things weren't that simple. Both teams were huffing and puffing while having trouble moving inside the narrow race track. The moment Nagase reached the finish line he shouted "I broke my personal record!" Which was a bit strange since Nagase had said it was his first time to compete in a 'caterpillar race'! It was actually Ohno's team that won the match. Why had team Nagase been so confident they had won?

Currently celebrating their 10th anniversary, Johnny's Entertainment group Arashi has seen their popularity skyrocket in the past year. It seems they have no intention of slowing down as they have been added to the lineup for NHK's Red and White Singing Contest. 

Their newest single 'My Girl' has also become a hit, successfully earning them the top 4 spots on this year's Oricon singles chart with the highest first week sales. 'My Girl' has reached number 3 on the charts, just after 'Ashita no Kioku / Crazy Moon' and 'Believe / Kumorinochi Kaisei'. The fourth spot also belongs to them with their previous single 'Everything'. They seem to have effortlessly dominated the sales in the singles chart for 2009.

In addition, fans from all over the world were thrilled when they announced their appearance on NHK's Red and White Singing Contest. It is the first time that Johnny's Entertainment will be having four groups perform on the show. Arashi's popularity has continued to rise within this year, especially riding on the success of individual projects from all five members. To be invited to perform at the 60th Red and White Singing Contest during their 10th year seems very appropriate.

嵐/Arashi, celebrating their 10th year, will appear at a drama,"最後の約束/Saigo no Yakusoku" with all the members together, and it has been 10 years since they appeared all together. The theme of the drama is "Bond" and it is a suspense drama that 5 people accidentaly meet as hostages of the huge building and fight against a terrorist. The latest costarring of 5 members was "Vの嵐/V no arashi," a mini-drama in 1999. Here are the members' comments.

大野/Ono:
"The experiences of our 10 years will be helpful on acting"

櫻井/Sakurai:
"It has been 10 years since 5 of us all appeared on the same drama. It is really happy to come back Fuji Television again. We will face against a terrorist because we are at the same building. The drama will have tensions and we hope to show different sides of ourselves."

相葉/Aiba:
"When we debuted, we did the drama together, so it feels like I'm home!"

二宮/Ninomiya:
"We did different things and hope to bring them together for this drama. We hope you to enjoy 'Arashi.'"

松本/Matsumoto:
"It is kind of embarrassing too that we all do the drama again. (laugh) But the script is great, and all the awesome staffs and actors...It will be the best drama for the new upcoming spring."

The special 10th anniversary year! Arashi did the national dorm tour starting from Kokuritsu Kyogijyo concerts in August, 3 days straight for the first time in history. The DVD released on 28th of last month, "All the BEST! 1999-2009" marked 500,000 sales, also first time in history of music DVD market. Arashi will never stop and nobody can stop them. 2010 seems to be Arashi's year again with their new drama in spring.
